BIO

As we go day to day trying to find the best brands and the trendiest products that cater to one's self we occasionally lose direction on what color and makeup are. What is makeup? What is color? Makeup and color; in my opinion, is what gives us a voice, gives us identity, gives us self-esteem, transforms us, enhances us, lets us be free, lets us be creative and imaginative. All this and more come to mind when I think of makeup and that is why I created PenYaColor - to do just that and more!

My vision started over a decade ago as I was fulfilling my art education at Michigan State University. My vision was clear - I wanted to create art! I wanted to make people feel beautiful, feel invincible and feel inspired when they came across my pieces and work. I finished college and desperately wanted to fill the void of longing my family and the deep culture that was an everyday present in my upbringing. How I missed my cultura, the flavor and the colors, that to me are my everything. So I moved home.

A very green but ambitious Chicana, born in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas and raised in a Midwest town just a couple hours away from Chicago and just minutes from the prestige college campus of Notre Dame. A dynamic upbringing that had both Mexican and American influences and a palette of much diversity due to my migrant upbringing and travels around the world. But my goal here was simple; to move back home and restore my soul and of course get a job to carry me to my next big move. Little did I know, the jobs that I would carry would open a whole new world- The Beauty Industry and ultimatly my own journey in life.

I spent nearly a decade doing a mixture of freelance artistry work, from murals, paintings, drawings, and makeup artistry and also Cosmetic Retail where I learned the "ins and outs" of running a business and catering to the client. I worked for companies such as LVMH Sephora, MAC and also Managed a Chanel Beautè Counter.

In 2014 I decided to step away from cosmetic retail and expand my expertise. So, I focused again on education, with an emphasis on Massage Therapy. Being a LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist) gave me the knowledge and the confidence to work with the dermis, natural ingredients and holistic care. I wanted to mold myself where I could be responsible for the health and beauty of my client while offering the up most luxury and care.

In 2016, I knew it was time, time to contribute and share my artistry with the world and thus created PenYaColor cosmetics. Today I hope you are inspired to try new products and create new looks with key products that are meant to spark creativity. Please follow my journey and grow with me as I continue to expand my line and share a part of my heart.

Yours Truly,

Magdalena Peña
